      Union Pacific Ore Car

The 2016 Ore Car in our custom series of
O-gauge Ore Cars commemorating Arizona's industries and railroads will
be the UNION PACIFIC Ore Car. The UNION PACIFIC (UP) is the major
railroad that operates in Southern Arizona and services its industries,
of which a major one is mining. UP is serviced by Southern Arizona short
lines Eastern Arizona Railway, Copper Basin Railway, San Pedro &
Southwestern, and the Port of Tucson.

The Union Pacific-Southern Pacific merged on September 11, 1996. The
railroad, with the assistance of the short lines, provided the mines
with much of their needed equipment and supplies and the removal of much
of the by-products of producing the final copper ingots. Over the years
the railroad was responsible for moving ore to the crushing facilities,
transporting partially processed copper ore to the smelters, and finally
transporting the ingots to the refineries.

To further honor Union Pacific the ore car is using their American flag
decoration used on their locomotives. Using the American Flag also
honors their employees as it was their employees who encouraged the use
of the flag on the company locomotives.

The ore cars, produced by Lionel LLC, will be finished in UPs’ multiple
color scheme and striping and their unique flying American Flag centered
on the car. A prototypical grey ore load is included. This classic
collectable is available through pre-paid mail order reservations.
